Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
TAPASS ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the TAPASS application, an educational tool for preparing for the Swedish Citizenship Language Test. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection law.
2. Data We Collect
We may collect:
- Account data — name, email address, and password (stored encrypted).
- Usage data — completed lessons, exam scores, progress metrics, and session duration.
- Device data — device type, operating system, and app version for debugging.
- Payment data — processed securely by Stripe; we never store card numbers.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal data unless required and permitted by applicable law.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to provide and personalise the TAPASS service; calculate and display your progress and readiness score; send optional study reminders (with your consent); improve the app based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns; process subscription payments; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases: (a) Contract — to provide the service you signed up for; (b) Legitimate interest — to improve app quality and prevent fraud; (c) Consent — for optional notifications and marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time; and (d) Legal obligation — when required by Swedish or EU law.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to run the service, including Stripe (payment processing), Firebase/Google Cloud (hosting and authentication), and Sentry (crash reporting). All sub-processors are contractually bound to GDPR-compliant data handling standards. No data is shared with advertisers.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and request data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Children's Privacy
TAPASS is not intended for children who are not legally permitted to use the service under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
